Description

This is an early 18th-century house, originally part of a pair, located on London Road, Chippenham. The other half of the original pair has been altered and is not included in the listing. The house is constructed of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a stone slate roof with a brick stack on the left party wall. It follows a two-unit plan.

The front elevation has two storeys, and originally four windows. A 20th-century porch obscures the right-of-centre doorway. To its left is a three-light window with chamfered stone mullions and 20th-century glazing consisting of three panes to each light. To the right of the porch is a taller, later 18th-century window surround containing a 20th-century casement window, likely replacing an earlier sash window. The first floor has two-light windows with cyma-moulded mullions framing the porch, and a similar 20th-century single-light window to the far left; the window on the far right is also taller and probably a former sash window. Wrought-iron brackets support the gutter. The rear return has two 20th-century windows inserted. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
