Description

Culley's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It features diaper brickwork that is partly tile hung, along with sarsen walling on the wing. The roof, added in the late 20th century, is tiled. The building is two storeys high, with an attic and cellar, and has a T-plan layout. The main section consists of three bays with a central stair hall, an end stack, and a cross passage at the rear, alongside a three-bay cross wing. The entrance is located within a 19th-century lean-to at the end of the cross passage. The farmhouse has timber cross windows with leaded glazing, likely early 20th-century replacements, set within segmental headed openings. There is a plat band, an original door in an extruded corner at the re-entrant angle, and a further external door to the living room that has been blocked. The roof is hipped and features two dormers on the south side, with one on the cross wing. Inside, there is a fine 17th-century panelled room with a cornice and round-headed alcoves in the end room. The interior also includes a late 17th-century staircase with turned balusters and a late 19th-century staircase in the cross wing, as well as a stone fireplace in the attic.
