Description

St John's Cottage is a house dating from the 16th to 17th century. It is timber framed with brick noggings and features a thatched roof. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan, consisting of three bays with a forward wing of one bay. The framing consists of three panels high with corner braces, although the right bay is an extension with lighter framing. The entrance is located in the re-entrant angle. The gable facing the road is constructed of brick and flint, showcasing an exposed tie beam. The cottage has leaded casement windows. The roof is hipped over the extension and slopes down at the rear over narrow service rooms. There are brick stacks present.
