Description
The Royal Oak Inn is an inn that dates from the 17th century, with later alterations. It features a timber frame set on a brick sill, with whitewashed brick noggings and a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of three bays, including a framed lean-to on the left and a barn on the right. The framing has three panels high with corner braces. The center bay contains a forward round-ended room that houses the bar, which has a tripartite 12-paned sash window from the 20th century. Most of the other windows are casement, and there are two flush dormers. The left bay is taller and has a stack at the junction with the center bay, while there is a second stack at the right gable before the barn. Inside, there is a chamfered spine beam and joists.
