Description

Myndtown Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with later additions and alterations. The building features a mix of construction styles, including partly timber-framed sections with plaster infill, and other areas that are roughcast over brown brick in random bond. The roofs are covered with machine tiles and slate, and there are projecting end stacks. The farmhouse has a roughly L-shaped plan, with a short parallel range and minor later additions to the rear. The oldest part of the house is the projecting gabled cross wing on the right.

The farmhouse is two storeys tall with an attic and has a main range of three bays, which may date from the 17th century. It features 19th-century multi-paned wooden casements, and the entrance is located to the right, consisting of a 20th-century door with an 18th-century overlight beneath a 20th-century gabled hood. The cross wing likely comprises three framed bays, showcasing large square panels with herringbone struts. The gable has overhanging eaves and a broken finial, with jettying at the first and attic floors. The moulded bressumers are supported by brackets carved with human figures and grotesque faces, and beneath these brackets on the left corner are colonettes with cable moulding. The ground floor has been partially underbuilt, with the post on the left being a 20th-century replacement. The ground and first floors have 19th-century multi-framed casements.

Inside, there is a notable late 17th-century staircase featuring square moulded balusters and carved newels. The front room of the cross wing includes a fireplace with a massive stone lintel and a panelled ceiling.
