Description

Choulton Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with 19th-century refacing and additions, as well as partial refacing from the late 20th century. The building features a rendered timber frame with 20th-century planted timbers, and it has coursed limestone refacing and additions, some of which are partly rendered. The roofs are covered with slate.

The framing consists of square panels, with four panels extending up to the wall plate. The structure likely comprises two framed bays, with a late 19th-century addition to the northeast and a mid to late 19th-century wing to the northwest, forming an L-shape. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a lower two-storey wing. There is an off-centre rendered ridge stack located to the left.

On the first floor, there are two central two-light wooden casements from the mid to late 19th century or 20th century. The ground floor features central 20th-century French casements, a boarded door to the left, and a half-glazed 20th-century door within a 20th-century conservatory, which has a re-used moulded timber above that is dated 1631. The lower projecting wing has a rendered external end stack and a lean-to extension at the northwest end. This wing includes two mid-19th-century casement windows and a central boarded door, which may have been a former scullery. The southeast front has three windows with 20th-century casements.
