Description

Number 1 and the outbuilding to the west are a house and outbuilding dating from the 17th century, with likely refacing from the mid to late 19th century and a 19th-century outbuilding. The structure was probably originally timber framed but is now built of coursed limestone rubble, rendered on the south and east sides, with a rendered timber-framed staircase wing and a plain tile roof added in the 20th century. The building is aligned north-east to south-west, with its main aspect facing north-west.

The house has a two-room plan with a central stair turret on the south-east side, forming a T-plan, and is 1½ storeys high. The north-west front features a gabled dormer on the right with a 20th-century two-light casement window and a central brick ridge stack. There is a small central attic casement window beneath the eaves, a 20th-century two-light casement window on the ground floor to the right, and a blocked window to the left, flanking an off-centre half-glazed door to the right.

On the south-east front, there is a 20th-century eaves dormer to the left, a central gabled stair turret with a 20th-century three-light casement window on the first floor, a segmental-headed 19th-century two-light casement window to the right, and a 20th-century lean-to addition to the left with a three-light casement window.

The outbuilding is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and red brick, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The north-west front of the outbuilding has two boarded doors, with the right door consisting of two leaves.
