Description

Castle Hill House is a detached house built in the early 19th century. It features colour-washed brick and a concrete slate hipped roof, with an L-shaped layout that runs at right angles to the road. The house is two stories tall with a basement and has four windows across its front. The entrance is a six-fielded panelled door located in the second bay from the left, with twelve-pane and nine-pane sash windows to the right, and one twelve-pane sash window to the left. The basement includes two sash windows and one casement window. On the first floor, there are two nine-pane sash windows and one twelve-pane sash window. The eaves are dentilled. The right side of the house has a canted bay window with three sash windows on the first floor, featuring a panelled apron and ogee base, with pilasters on either side of the facade. There is a single-storey extension at basement level that includes a six-fielded panelled door and 20th-century windows. The rear of the house has two 20th-century windows on three floors. A tablet on the building records the year 1826, as noted by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments.
