Description
The Old Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of English bond brick with a tiled roof and brick stacks. The building has an L-plan layout that runs at right angles to the road and is a single storey with an attic, featuring four windows. The central entrance has an 8-panelled door set within a hipped roofed porch. The windows are segmental headed casements with cast iron latticing, and to the left of the entrance is a round-arched opening leading to another door. The first floor includes a hipped dormer on the right side and a tile-hung hipped dormer on the left above the door, which has a casement window. The right side of the cottage has a casement window in the attic. The rear wing features the same style of casements with diamond leading. Inside, there is an axial chamfered beam with ogee stops. The cottage was originally built as a single-cell structure with extensions added to either side and to the rear.
