Description

Emmott's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with an 18th-century outshut and 20th-century alterations. It features square panelled timber-framing with brick nogging that has replaced the original wattle and daub, and a concrete tiled roof with a brick stack. The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central stack, and the outshut was added in the 18th century. The gable end faces the road, with the entrance located in the outshut and another entrance on the left side. The two-storey, one-window front includes a 20th-century porch and casements on both the ground and first floors; the right side is the outshut with a raised roof from around 1950, while the left side retains timber-framing with slightly curved bracing. The left side also has one 20th-century casement on both floors, integrated into the main timber-framed elevation. The rear features a rebuilt brick wall from around 1945. The right side has 19th-century cast-iron casements on the ground floor and 1950s casements on the first floor, which are not of special interest. Inside, there is a central back-to-back fireplace made of brick with timber lintels. Exposed wattle and daub can be seen on the first floor in the timber-framed right return, which is now part of the outshut but was originally an outside wall.
