Description
Pope's Bottom Cottage is a late 18th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house, with mid-19th-century additions. The building is constructed of English bond brick and features a Welsh slate roof, with a brick chimney located between the first and second bays. It is two stories high and has a four-window front. The central door is set in a porch with a hipped slate roof, which is part of the 19th-century addition. Flanking the door are three-light cast-iron casements, and to the left in the 18th-century bay is a three-light wooden casement and a blocked segmental-arched door. On the first floor, there are three three-light cast-iron casements and one two-light window above the porch. At the rear, there is a two-story wing from the mid-19th century, which has a hipped Welsh slate roof and cast-iron casements on the first floor, while the ground floor features 20th-century windows and an inserted door. The left side of the building has one casement window on each floor. Inside, there are brick back-to-back fireplaces in the two left-hand bays, and a 19th-century staircase that ascends from the front door, while the stairs to the one-bay 18th-century part have been removed.
