Description

Rowden's Farmhouse is a circa 1700 farmhouse with an 18th-century extension. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with light timber framing in the attic, and has a thatched roof. The building originally comprised a two-room cottage with an integral outshut, and a lean-to thatched extension to the left. An extension to the right now means the entrance front is at a right angle to the road. The farmhouse is one storey and attic with two windows on the front. A 20th-century thatched porch covers the entrance door, which is on the left side of the front. To the right of the porch are two wooden casement windows with segmental arches above. A brick plat band runs across the first floor, above which are two casement windows in the attic. The right return gable end to the road has the continuation of the brick plat band, with a single casement window to the first floor. The integral rear outshut has two casement windows on the ground floor and one casement window in a central attic dormer. The interior has not been inspected but is reportedly said to contain stairs in the outshut. Records from the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (England), Salisbury, refer to the property.
