Description
Whitehouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with a 18th-century outshut. It features a tile-hung timber frame on an English bond brick plinth and has a tiled roof, which was being replaced by concrete tiles at the time of survey in January 1985. The building has an axial brick stack and follows a baffle-entry design.
It is two stories tall with one window. The central entrance is a half-glazed door set in a gabled tiled porch, flanked by three-light 20th-century metal casements on either side. The first floor has one 20th-century metal casement. The right side of the building has 20th-century metal casements on both the ground and first floors, while the left side is slate-hung and also features metal casements. At the rear, there is an 18th-century Flemish bond brick outshut with 20th-century casements. The grouped axial brick stack is situated on a steeply-pitched roof.
Inside, the farmhouse has deeply-chamfered beams with run-out stops, and some timber framing is partially exposed on the first floor. The roof structure is a three-bay design with straight wind-bracing.
