Description

Inglefield House is an early 18th-century detached cottage located on the west side of Beckett’s Lane, Chilmark. The cottage is constructed of coursed dressed limestone, with an asbestos tiled roof and gable end brick stacks. It has a gable end facing the road. The building is two stories and has a two-window front. A central 20th-century door is set within a gabled porch, flanked by recessed chamfered mullioned windows with three lights. The first floor has a three-light and a two-light recessed chamfered mullioned window. The roof has coped verges. The right return side features a two-light mullioned window and a two-light casement to the first floor, with single chamfered lights either side of an external stone stack with offsets. The rear of the cottage has a two-light mullioned window and a 20th-century casement. The interior was not inspected.
