Description

Number 1 and its attached wall to the left is an early 19th-century house, originally built before 1831, and now used as offices. It is constructed of limestone ashlar on the front, with rubble stone to the rear. The roof is slate, with coped gable ends and brick stacks at the rear, which have been shortened. The house has a three-part layout, including a central stairhall and a later two-storey rear outshut. The front elevation is symmetrical, with a three-window arrangement and 6/6-pane sash windows. The front door has six flush panels and glazed upper sections, and is topped by a platband. The rear outshut has ashlar quoins to all corners, including the corner where it joins the main building. The interior has not been inspected. A limestone rubble wall, approximately 2 metres high, is attached to the left side of the house and curves back for about 15 metres.
