Description
This is an accommodation bridge over the Kennet and Avon Canal, built around 1807 under the direction of Chief Engineer John Rennie. The bridge features English bond brickwork and has an oval arch made of one and a half bricks with a bullnosed arris. At the base of the parapet, there is a two-course string with flush stone copings, which terminate in slight piers. The abutments are splayed on plan. At the north end of the bridge, there is a Great Western Railway lozenge iron weight restriction sign, although the loading inserts are missing. The canal towpath includes stone revetments and a slot for a timber sluice.
