Description

No. 81 Townend is a house dating from the 17th century. It has a timber frame that was refaced in late 18th to early 19th century diaper brick and features a thatched roof. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of two bays, following a gable lobby entry plan. The entrance has a boarded door with a thatched canopy above it. There are 19th century timber casement windows with segmental brick arches and two flush dormers. The left gable has a stack with three flues. Inside, there is a timber framed cross wall, and the inner room is divided longitudinally. The hall features a chamfered spine beam, but the fireplace has been blocked.
