Description
Cumberland Lodge is an 18th-century house located on the west side of The Street in Milton Lilbourne. The building is constructed of diaper brick with a thatched roof, and it features some chalkstone at the rear. It is two storeys tall and has an L-shaped plan, with a major three-bay wing that has an integral outshut perpendicular to the road, and a cross wing at the end.
The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with fielded panelling, topped by a bracketed canopy. On either side of the door are 16-pane canted bay windows with tiled roofs. The first floor has casement windows, and there is a second hipped porch located in the re-entrant angle. The wing includes a 16-pane window from the early 19th century. The building features a gable stack and a stack at the junction of the wings. At the rear, there is a gabled and tile-hung stair that rises from the outshut, along with a single-storey thatched extension.
