Description

CORSHAM LOCKS CROSS, Neston ST 86 NE 3/255 Nos 1 to 7 (odd) and Neston Post Office II

Row of cottages, C17, rubble stone with stone tiled roofs, coped gables, end wall stacks and 2 ridge stacks. One and half storeys. Five dormer gables to front. Recessed chamfered mullion windows with hoodmoulds. C19 gabled ashlar porches with shallow arched doorways and inner C19 four-panel doors. No 1 apparently a later addition, has 3-light upper window, 2-light below and porch to right. Similar end wall windows. Rear wing with end wall stack and north side dormer gable with recessed cyma-moulded 2-light window over door. Straight joint to No 3. No 3 is double fronted with 3-light windows to dormer gables, 3-light, porch and 2-light to ground floor. No 5 has porch to left and 2-light window to each floor, lower window is C18 flush cyma-moulded. No 7 has porch to left and 2-light window to each floor. To right, Post Office, is C19 single storey stone-tiled addition with door and two 2-light windows. Small end addition with single light and lean-to hipped roof.
