Description

The Plough is a house, likely dating from 1644 or 1677, built of rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof. It originally functioned as an inn. The main part of the house has two storeys and a two-window front, with recessed chamfered mullion windows. The window to the left is of two lights, and the window to the right is of three lights, all with hoodmoulds. Small gables are positioned above the first-floor windows, and a datestone is set into the right gable. A 19th-century lean-to porch has been added to the left end wall. A paired gabled rear wing features coped gables and end wall stacks. The west side of the rear wing has a two-window range of two-light recessed hollow-moulded windows with hoodmoulds, while the east side is similar, but with a ground-floor door framed by a moulded architrave, and a single two-light window, both also with hoodmoulds.
