Description

Numbers 1-5 Weavers Cottages are a row of cottages dating to the later 18th century, constructed of painted rubble stone with a pantiled roof and three ridge stacks. The cottages are two storeys high, originally each with a single-room plan, except for the first, which was later incorporated into number 2. Initially, the first three cottages each had a one-window range of 2-light beaded mullion windows and a door to the left. Number 1 now has casement pairs where the door and upper window once stood. Number 2 has a 20th-century lean-to glazed porch. Number 3 features a broad, 20th-century gabled porch. Number 4 has a 20th-century casement pair above a 20th-century lean-to. Number 5 is taller and has a two-storey and attic design with a stack at the east end, brick quoins, and 20th-century triple casement and casement pair windows on each floor, along with a central door. Number 5 is included in the listing primarily for group value.
