Description
No. 13 Market Place, also known as 28 Butcher Row, is a Grade II* listed building that dates back to the 16th or 17th century, with an 18th-century recasing. The structure has three storeys and is made of painted brick. It features a moulded brick cornice and a parapet that conceals the roof. The upper floors have superimposed rectangular bay windows from the early 19th century, with tripartite sashes at the front, a panelled apron, and a moulded cornice above. The ground floor has a plain single 19th-century shop front. Inside, the building retains an early 18th-century staircase with columnar balusters, and the roof trusses are preserved, showing carved fronts to the principals.
