Description
No 37 on Silver Street is a late 18th-century building with an altered front. It has two storeys and is constructed of painted brick. The building features a modillion wood cornice and a parapet with coping. The first floor has been modified in the late 19th century to include a nearly full-width tripartite display window, with the center section taller and framed by reeded pilasters, a frieze, and a dentil cornice above each broad light. The ground floor has a modern shop front.
Additionally, the property has a front that faces east at right angles to New Canal. This section has late 17th-century origins and was altered in the late 18th century. It stands three storeys tall, also made of painted brick, with a moulded brick cornice and a parapet with coping. There is a moulded band above the first floor, and the upper floors feature three symmetrical windows with flush architrave framed sashes, later glazing, and stucco keystones above. The ground floor has an early 20th-century shop front. Inside this part of the building, there is an attic stair with a closed string and splat moulded balusters.
