Description
International Stores, located at The Poultry Cross, is a Grade II* listed building dating back to the 16th century, though it has undergone significant alterations. The structure is three stories tall, featuring a timber frame that is plastered and tile hung. The upper section of the south front has a double oversail and includes five modern casement windows. The ground floor has a modern shop front, while historical images reveal that the building originally had two gables on the south front. The east front also displays two gables and three modern windows positioned at varying heights, with the modern shop front extending around the corner. Although the old tile roof has been rebuilt, part of the original roof structure remains intact, consisting of four bays with collar and clasped trusses and straight windbraces. This building serves as an important backdrop to the Poultry Cross and is part of a group with Nos 15 to 19.
