Description
The Angel Hotel is a Grade II* listed building located in Lavenham Market Place. Originally constructed in the 15th century, it features a timber-framed and plastered structure with cross wings at the north-west and south-east ends. However, the north-west cross wing is now part of the adjoining properties, Nos 16 and 17. The building was refronted in the 13th century, and the ground storeys were underbuilt. It has a tiled roof and stands two storeys high. The south-west front has a four-window range, while the south-east front has a five-window range, both featuring double-hung sashes with glazing bars. A wing extends to the north-east, with part of the upper storey jettied at the north-east end. Inside, there are notable features, including a 16th-century plaster ceiling on the upper storey and earlier wall paintings.
