Description

14 and 15 Market Place is a timber-framed and plastered building, likely dating from the 16th century but significantly altered in the 18th century and later. It has two storeys. The upper storey features two small double-hung sash windows with glazing bars and a central loft doorway. The ground storey includes a 19th-century shop front with three windows that also have glazing bars and two doorways beneath a cornice. At the north-east end, there is a passageway revealing exposed timber-framing. The upper storey is built against the gable of No 16. This building is said to have been the Toll House and was once used as a stable with a hayloft.
