SILVER STREET 1. 1594 (North Side) Nos 38 and 40 SU 1429 NW 3/317 28.2.52. 1I* GV 2. Early Cl8 front to C15/C16 building. 3 storeys and attic timber framed. Front of mathematical tiles. Old tile roofs. No 38 has bold moulded and modillion eaves cornice. 3 hipped roof dormers with moulded cornices. 3 windows second floor. 2 on first floor flanking canted bay, flush architrave framed sashes, no glazing bars. The canted bay has architrave surround to lights, moulded cornice and flush panelled apron. No 40 has 2 hipped roof dormers, 2 flush framed sashes second floor and canted bay window on first floor, no glazing bars. On ground floors No 38 has later Cl9 shop window large rectangular thin mullioned 3 light bay. 6 panel door in architrave surround with corner blocks. No 40 has modern shop front. Rear elevation tile hung, irregular flush framed windows.

The Poultry Cross and Nos 36 to 52 (even) form a group. The rear elevation of Nos 1 to 17 (odd) Minster Street form a group with the rear elevation of Nos 36 to 52 (even) and with St Thomas's Church, St Thomas's Square.
