Description

West Kennett House is a house dating from around 1800, built with Flemish brickwork and featuring a concealed slate roof. It stands three storeys high with basements and has five bays. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door that is accessed by six steps and is set within a Tuscan portico. There is a plat band between the raised ground floor and the upper floors, topped with a dentilled cornice and a low parapet. The windows are twelve-paned sashes with concealed boxes and gauged brick lintels, while the second floor has nine-pane sashes and the basement features six-pane windows. Gable stacks with moulded stone caps are present on the roof. At the rear right side, there is a 19th-century kitchen wing, and a two-storey lean-to extends across the remainder of the back elevation. Inside, the house includes a dog leg stair in the stair hall and a moulded fireplace with marble slips set between arched recesses in the drawing room to the left of the hall.
