Description

Smithy Cottage is a cottage dating from the 19th century, and likely earlier. It is constructed of flint with stone quoins and some brick lacing, and has a thatched roof. The cottage is two storeys and two bays wide, with a central entrance and a rear lean-to addition. A 20th-century boarded door is set beneath a canopy. It has four-pane sash windows, with a twelve-pane window in the gable. A stack is located at the rear. The thatch has been cut back over the upper floor windows and the left side of the roof is half-hipped. This building possesses group value from its contribution to the historic character of the area.
