Description

This is a 17th-century cottage, originally composed of two cottages. It is timber framed with wattle and daub infill panels, and has gables faced with brick and flint. The cottage is one storey high with an attic, and originally comprised two bays, with the left bay serving as the principal room. There was a stack (chimney) to the left of each bay; a central stack is likely an addition and has been largely removed. A two-bay rear outbuilding has been incorporated into the structure. The timber frame is three panels high, incorporating corner braces. A door has been moved from its original location. There are timber casement windows, with a small window in the former pantry area against the main stack. The roof is thatched, with two flush dormers swept over it. Inside, a chamfered spine beam is present, along with shaped and notched brackets above the firebeam in the left-hand room.
