Description
Toby Cottage is a pair of cottages, originally three, dating from the 17th century. They are constructed of brick and timber framing with wattle and daub infill, although some of the infill has been replaced with brick. The cottages have a thatched roof and are one storey with an attic. The central section features two framed bays with a central stack. The right bay was originally a framed lean-to but has been rebuilt in brick and flint, while brick and flint were also added to the left side, likely in the 19th century, which includes a gable stack. The thatch extends down over a narrow rear lean-to. The framing consists of three panels high on the sill, with corner braces. The doors are boarded, and there are timber casement and sliding windows, along with leaded casements in four dormers. Inside, the cottages feature chamfered spine beams with notched stops.
