Description

12 and 13 Church Walk is a remodelling from 1846, featuring a three-storey bath ashlar corner block with three windows facing Fore Street and four windows on Church Walk. The Fore Street elevation includes a listel cornice and blocking course, corner pilasters, and a band below the second floor that mitres over the corner pilaster. The windows are glazing bar sash windows, with single hung windows on the second floor, tripartite windows on either side of the first floor, and a round-headed window in the centre. The shop front from the mid to late 19th century has a recessed central entrance and fascia brackets. On the Church Walk side, there is a smaller shop front with a doorway under a common fascia, a tripartite window to the left, and an additional door to the far left. The right-hand window on the first floor is blocked, as are two of the second floor windows. There is a band below the second floor that mitres over the corner pilasters, and stone brackets support the gutter. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles. A stone lamp bracket from the 20th century is located in the centre of the first floor.

Nos 2 to 7 and 11 to 13 Church Walk, along with St James's Parish Church, the listed tombs, the Old Vestry Rooms, and Nos 46 to 48 Fore Street, form a group. Nos 2 and 7 Church Walk are of local interest.
