1 AND 2, THE BRITTOX (See details for further address information)

Nos 1 and 2, The Brittox, are located on a corner site that includes Nos 4 and 5 Little Brittox. This building dates from the 17th century and features a timber frame that is now rough cast, with 18th century and later alterations. It stands three storeys tall and has a parapet with coping, rendered flanking and corner strips, and a band between the storeys.

On the Brittox front, there are two paired sash windows with glazing bars and moulded flush frames on both the first and second floors. The shop front on Little Brittox is from the 20th century. The west front facing Little Brittox has two sash windows with glazing bars on the second floor and three on the first floor, all in moulded flush frames. One of the first-floor windows nearest the corner is a canted bay with three lights, also sash with intact glazing bars, moulded frames, and brackets supporting the cornice.

No 4 retains the frame of a small Victorian shop front with a bracketed cornice, while No 5 features a recessed door made of six fielded panels in a plain wood case, accompanied by a rectangular four-pane fanlight. Nos 1 and 2, along with Nos 1 to 5 Little Brittox, form a cohesive group.
