Description

These are two early 18th-century buildings, altered subsequently, located on the south-east side of Market Place. They are three storeys and have an attic. The exterior is painted stucco with painted, chamfered stone quoins, a wide moulded eaves cornice, and a hipped tile roof. A hipped dormer window has a two-light casement. The upper floor has six windows with architrave surrounds; these windows lack glazing bars. The ground floor features plate glass shop fronts, and a six-panel door with a plain rectangular fanlight is located on the right-hand side. The building’s elevation to Little Brittox shows one hipped dormer, one window to the upper part, and a continuation of the shop front. A further dormer is present on the return front on the right-hand side. The listed buildings on the south-west side of Market Place, the south-east side, the Market Hall, the Market Cross and the Fountain form a group.
