Description

Aldbourne Warren Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse constructed of diaper brick with 20th-century interlocking tiles. The building is three stories high and consists of three bays, with an east wing also featuring three bays. It was built in two phases, around 1800 and 1830, each featuring a central stair hall flanked by rooms that are one room deep and attached at right angles. The later wing has a central six-panelled door facing southeast, which is set beneath a reed-moulded surround and a 20th-century porch. The windows are tripartite 12-pane sashes with gauged brick heads, and there is a 16-pane window above the door. The roof is hipped with wide eaves and gable stacks.

At the rear, the earlier block is made of sarsen stone with brick dressings and plain tiles. This section is two stories high, with three bays and a central entrance door beneath a lean-to porch. The windows here are segmental-headed three-light leaded windows, featuring heads made of alternating coloured bricks, and the eaves are cogged. There is a left gable stack and a stack to the right of the through hall. A stair tower is located at the angle between the two blocks. The farmhouse is part of a group of late 18th to early 19th-century farm buildings at Aldbourne Warren Farm.
