Description

The property is a rectory, now a detached house, dating to the 18th century and altered in 1842 by W.B. Moffatt. It is constructed of rubble stone with a Welsh slate roof, featuring tiles to the rear pitch, and has paired ashlar stacks with moulded cappings. The building is in an L-shaped plan. The front has two storeys and four windows. A gabled porch is located to the left of centre, containing a double-chamfered Tudor-arched doorway with a half-glazed arched door. Above the door is a hoodmould with the date 1842 in a shield. To the right of the porch are a three-light, single and a three-light mullioned window, with Tudor-arched lights. The first floor has similar windows, each with two gablets above. A projecting range to the left features a two-storey stone bay with three-light mullioned and transomed windows, and a two-light mullioned window to the attic gable. The left return has French windows in a five-light mullioned and transomed window, an external stack to the left, and a 20th-century half-glazed door with a two-light mullioned window above. The first floor of the left return has a two-light and a three-light mullioned window. The right return includes a late 19th-century wing with a four-panelled door with a transom light, two three-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows, and on the first floor, two three-light mullioned windows with gablets. The rear of the main range exhibits two-light casements and mullioned windows to the ground floor, a three-light mullioned window with arched lights illuminating the stairs, an external stack, and a two-light mullioned window to the first floor. Attached single-storey outbuildings have a concrete tiled roof. The roof has coped verges with urn finials. Internally, there are four-panelled doors, stone Tudor-arched fireplaces, and a staircase with stick balusters.
