Description

Leigh House Farmhouse and the adjoining barn date from the 17th century or late 16th century. Together, they form three sides of a square enclosure. The buildings are constructed of rubble with stone-tiled roofs and eaves. The front elevation features two gables and a mix of three- and two-light casement windows with moulded stone mullions and dripmoulds, some of which are original. There is a square-headed central doorway topped with a flat stone hood supported by cut stone brackets. The garden is surrounded by a wall that is ashlar faced and brick-lined. The left side of the building has two gables and additional three- and two-light casement windows with moulded stone mullions, although two of the windows are blocked. To the right of the main elevation, there is a low single-storey outbuilding with a single loop in the gable. At the rear of the farmhouse, there is a blocked quadrilateral arched window opening. This group of buildings is visually appealing, although there are few original features remaining.
