Description

71A and 71B, The Close, are former stable blocks of No 71, dating from the 18th century and significantly altered to serve as two residences. The building is two storeys high, constructed of red brick with some grey headers, and features a steeply pitched hipped roof covered in old tiles. The west front has modern casement windows and doors designed in an 18th-century style. The east front is made of flint rubble, partly rendered, which may indicate it is part of an earlier structure, and has irregular casements. All the listed buildings in The Close create an impressive group.
