THE CLOSE Gate lodges to road and archway and screen wall along north side of front garden of No 70

GV II Symmetrical pair of early C19 stock brick single storey lodges flanking entrance to stable yard on right hand of house. Low pitch hipped and slate roofs, flat eaves. One sash window, glazing bars, to front of each. South lodge has recessed verandah or covered way on south side, the eaves of roof supported by thin iron Doric columns. Linked to house by rendered screen wall with tall three centred archway flanked by buttresses.
