Description
This is a dwarf wall, rails, piers, gates, and overthrow located across the front of 70 The Close, dating from the early 19th century. The structure features a dwarf stone wall topped with plain iron rails. It includes panelled stone Gothic gabled gate piers, with side footpath gates and double gates at the center, flanked by square section standards. The cast iron work is notable, with the rails designed as giant arrows, concave top bars, and oval base panels on the double gates. The standards are adorned with scroll work and support a wrought iron ogee arched overthrow, which has a lantern. All the listed buildings in The Close create an impressive group.
