Description

The listed building comprises a forecourt wall, piers, iron gates, and an overthrow situated at number 69 The Close. The low brick wall runs across the forecourt and features projecting stone piers with splayed stone coping that sweeps upward to the central gateway. The gateway is flanked by square, panelled stone piers with moulded bases and caps. Above the gates sits a wrought iron ‘overthrow’ incorporating a lantern holder. The gates themselves consist of panelled, scrolled standards, small iron bars, 'dog' bars, and an inverted curved top rail, all embellished with a scrolled pattern. The entire ensemble contributes to the outstanding group value of the listed buildings within The Close.
