Description
The dwarf wall and gatepiers fronting the Unitarian Church and its annexe to the south date from the circa 1850s to 1860s. Constructed from ashlar, the gatepiers are buttressed with corner shafts and feature cross gabled capping, stepped weathering, and cusped panels. The wrought iron gates are notable for their pointed arcade at the base, quatrefoils above, and spear head rails, with fleur de lys and leaf finials at the centre and sides. The dwarf wall is complemented by ashlar end piers. Together, the Conigre Unitarian Church, the annexe, and their railings, dwarf wall, and gatepiers form a cohesive group with No 19 Middle Rank.
