2/81 The Coach House

Former stables to Rumsey House (q.v), early C19, brick with ashlar dressings and slate roof. Two storeys, courtyard plan. Court is entered from south by arched doorway in rubble stone screen wall. In court, brick is limewashed. South front has 3 arched ground floor entries, centre door with fanlight, larger stable doors each side. Upper gabled arched loading door with lunette each side. Wing to right has paired flush-mullioned windows to each floor each side and central pitching-eye over broad doorway in raised flat- headed surround. Wing to left is plainer with door flanked by windows to Eight with door over window to left. End walls of wings have flush quoins, left side has large double doors. Rear wall has 2 ground floor lunettes and one upper opening. West end has been extended in rubble stone with hipped gable, entry to north flanked by windows, single window over door. Small hipped 2- storey wing running north.
