Description
The New Baptist Chapel, built in 1851-52 by Mr. Hardick, is a Grade II listed building located at 1042 Sheep Street. It is constructed in a plain Early English style, possibly using Chilmark stone. The chapel features a projecting west end with a gable, which is flanked by tall, thin, pinnacled buttresses. Similar buttresses are also found on the sides of the chapel. Below the tall lancet windows, there is a string course. The west doors are set within a pointed moulded arch under a gable that has an angular trefoil design. Smaller gables are positioned above the side lancets. The west window consists of three grouped lancets, with the center lancet being taller and divided by thin colonettes.
