Description
No. 27 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop with an office above. It contains fragments from the 16th century and stonework from the late 18th century, with applied timber framing. The building has a 20th-century tiled roof featuring one dormer added in 1937. It is two stories tall with a cellar and consists of two bays, with the entrance located on the left side and a wider bay to the right. There are stacks located at the center and gable ends. The shopfront is from the 20th century, while the first floor has timber casement windows. Originally, the building had a rear open hall that was positioned at right angles to the High Street, featuring fire-blackened timbers. Inside, there are remnants of two cruck trusses with a saddle apex and one surviving windbrace, along with fire beams at the ground floor level in the 18th-century front block.
