Description
26 and 26A High Street is a corner shop that dates from the 16th to 17th century, with later alterations in the 18th century. The building features diaper brickwork and has brick dentilled eaves on a stone sill. It has a hipped tiled roof that is sprocketed at the rear. The structure is two storeys high with two bays, and there is a door on the left that is five-panelled, with the upper panels glazed and a plain bracketed hood above it. The ground floor shopfront is splayed at the corner and supported by columns. The upper floor has 9-pane sash windows with flat brick arches. The return to Wood Street also has two bays with sashes, and the ground floor features a long splayed shopfront that dates from around 1900. The rear has 16-pane sashes and a block with a central four-flue brick stack. Inside, there is a moulded ceiling and dragon beams. This building was formerly known as the King of Prussia Public House.
