Description

The Marlborough College Gymnasium, built in 1908 and designed by architect C.E. Ponting, is a two-storey building constructed of chequer brick with rusticated rubbed brick pilasters. It features a pitched slate roof and a deeply projecting wooden modillion eaves cornice. Each side of the building has an open pediment at the center, through which a large window with glazing bars is set in a concave rubbed brick surround. The lower storey includes parts of the former town gaol.
