Description

No 68 on High Street is a late 18th-century building made of red brick with a pitched tile roof and a brick chimney stack. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring oversailing courses at the eaves. On the first floor, there are two segment-headed sash windows with glazing bars. The shop front, dating from the 18th century, has a moulded cornice supported by four reeded pilasters. Flanking the entrance door, which has four flush panels, are two modern casement windows with glazing bars. The attic includes a flat-topped dormer with a sash window in a moulded frame. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 65 to 85, The Sun Public House, Nos 88 to 90, the Church of St Peter and St Paul, and Nos 42 to 64 on the south side.
