Description

The glass monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 2 meters north of the Dole Stone and northwest of the north porch of the Church of St Mary. It dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of ashlar. The tomb features two shield plaques on each side, a fielded panelled center, and angle piers. It has shield end plaques and a moulded base with a cornice that includes a pulvinated frieze, which is broken forward over the piers. The angles of the tomb have been rounded at a later date. On the north side, there are inscriptions commemorating Elizabeth Glass, who died in 1798, and Robert Glass, who died in 1808.
