Description

This milestone, located about 150 metres south of the junction with Long Lane, is likely from the early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a semi-circular top with incised lettering on the front that reads: "MAIDEN BRADLEY" (curved round top) / "3" / "FROME" / "9". The section of the road from The Mere to Maiden Bradley was turnpiked between 1754 and 1756.
