STOURTON WITH GASPER FROME ROAD ST 73 NE (west side) 3/116 Milestone about 150 metres south of junction with Long Lane GV II Milestone. Probably early C19. Limestone pillar with semi- circular top, incised lettering to front: MAIDEN BRADLEY (curved round top) / 3 / FROME / 9. The Mere to Maiden Bradley part of the Frome to Wincanton road was turnpiked 1754-56. (VCH, Wiltshire, Vol 4, 1959)
